COMPLEX OPERATIONSNEED BETTER SYSTEMS.

I improve how people, processes, information and technology work together — turning fragmented ways of working into clearer, more connected operating models.

The work behind the title

When I add most value

Usually where a problem crosses more than one boundary—and the organisation needs a clearer view before it can move.

01

Evidence exists, but no one has a complete or usable view.

02

An issue crosses operational, contractual, financial and stakeholder boundaries.

03

An industrial risk event or claim needs technical facts, financial impact and supporting evidence to converge.

04

Controls exist, but ownership, verification or closure remains unclear.

05

Senior decision-makers need a concise, defensible view from incomplete information.

06

A process exists on paper, but the real workflow still depends on inboxes, trackers and handovers.

How I see complexity

Systems view

Complex work rarely lives in one function. Select a lens to see what it changes—and what it depends on.

Select a lens to explore

I create concise, defensible views from incomplete information so people can decide and act.

How I structure action

Decision diagnostic

Complex problems rarely arrive neatly packaged. Test how decision-ready an issue actually is.

01 Choose a business scenario
02 How strong is the evidence?
03 How clear is ownership?
04 What is the time pressure?
05 What are the consequences of delay?

Selected work

Ideas made visible

Working concepts at different stages of maturity—each designed to turn fragmented work into a clearer operating view.

01

Working demo

AssetIQ

Problem

Portfolio information, risks, actions and decisions often sit in separate views.

Diagnosis

The information exists, but its relationships and priorities are harder to read across assets.

What I designed / changed

An interactive management view connecting asset context, risk, ownership, action and decision.

How the work was aligned

Technical, operational and governance inputs are structured around one portfolio view.

Result / control / decision enabled

A clearer route from signal to prioritised action and recorded decision.

02

Working concept

Claims management view

Problem

Status, evidence, loss information and ownership become fragmented across inboxes and trackers.

Diagnosis

The real constraint—evidence, authority, cost or next action—is not visible enough for closure.

What I designed / changed

A fictional-data view connecting claim position, supporting evidence, ownership and the next required action.

How the work was aligned

Technical, commercial and insurance inputs are brought into one decision sequence.

Result / control / decision enabled

The control that must close before reporting or settlement becomes explicit.

03

Prototype

AMOS

Problem

Obligations, risks, actions and records are managed as separate workstreams.

Diagnosis

Fragmentation weakens traceability from issue to decision to verified closure.

What I designed / changed

An Asset Management Operating System prototype linking the records that govern recurring work.

How the work was aligned

Operational activity is connected to accountability, evidence and decision points.

Result / control / decision enabled

A coherent control structure for seeing what is open, owned, decided and verified.

04

Concept / prototype

Workflow and automation

Problem

Recurring work relies too heavily on manual transfer, follow-up and re-entry.

Diagnosis

The process may be documented, while the real workflow remains dependent on individual memory.

What I designed / changed

Email-to-record workflows, process maps, structured data concepts and small automation tools.

How the work was aligned

Information requirements, owners and hand-offs are designed into the workflow.

Result / control / decision enabled

Less ambiguity about where information belongs and what must happen next.

Public examples use fictional, generated or anonymised information. No employer systems, internal data or confidential methods are shown.

Career evolution

The systems changed.
The instinct didn’t.

Each stage added another way of seeing the same underlying problem: how to make complex work more visible, controlled and actionable.

Instrumentation to Asset Management
One accumulating systems view

01Instrumentation & controls

Learning to read systems through signals, conditions and cause-and-effect.

02PLCs, SCADA & visibility

Turning operating data into a view that people can understand and use.

03Production & operations

Working across disciplines where decisions have immediate operational consequences.

04Renewable energy

Applying that systems instinct across complex, long-life infrastructure.

05Risk, claims & governance

Connecting facts, consequences, obligations, evidence and accountability.

06Process & systems improvement

Designing clearer structures for recurring work and decision support.

07Asset Management

Bringing the disciplines together across performance, risk, control and long-term value.

About

Structured, curious
and practical.

I work where asset performance, risk, commercial obligations, information and people intersect.

A significant part of my work is making those intersections usable—creating clearer governance, stronger controls, better decision information and practical systems that help organisations move from issue to decision to verified closure.

A second layer

This site is also
a case study.

I am exploring a different kind of professional website—one that does more than display credentials by turning expertise, thinking and personality into an interactive digital experience.
